Welker Scores 1000th Career Point, Warriors Split Over Weekend

The Warriors used a smothering full court defensive press to forced conference foe Middletown Christian into 25 turnovers Friday night which resulted in a 66-48 victory for DC.  Senior Matt Welker scored his 1000th career point in the first quarter and finished the night with 16 points.  Sophomore Sam Dimario, making his first career varsity start, got the party started making steals early and finished the night with a team high 5. Not to be outdone, Welker also had 5 steals and overall the team had an astounding 20 for the night. A good portion of the steals were due in part to Junior Anton Webb’s 10 deflections who had 3 steals of his own. Webb also led all scorers with 23 points and Senior Ryan Fair added 15 along with 4 steals as the Warriors improved to 4-1 in conference play.

Saturday night the Warriors came up short in a defensive battle against D2 Carroll 44-37. Carroll grabbed an early lead and while the Warriors fought hard they were not able to overcome the early deficit. Senior Matt Welker led DC with 21 points and Sophomore Luke Swanger added 9 as the Warriors fell to 7-4 overall.

The team is back in action tonight in an important conference game @ Yellow Springs. Come out and support the team as they will need their 6th man this evening!
