DC Basketball Varsity Warriors finish December with a 6-3 (3-1 league) record, in FIRST PLACE of the Metro Buckeye Conference!

On Friday, 12/29, the DC Basketball Warriors held off Carlisle’s furious second half rally to win 55-53.  It was a nail biter and this was a very important win over another D3 opponent.  Matt Welker led the Warriors with 23 points and 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists.  Anton Webb had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.  Shawn VanNoy led the way rebounding with 7 boards.

On Saturday 12/30, the DC Warriors lost to Miamisburg 59-54 in a hard fought battle.  This was a tightly contested game where both teams led in the 4th quarter and Ryan Fair’s potential go ahead 3 rims out with under 30 seconds to go weren’t enough as D1 Miamisburg edged out the Warriors.  Miamisburg was able to hold on making 3 key free throws at the end of the game for a 59-54 win.  Anton Webb led all scorers with a career high 28 points and Matt Welker added 15 for the Warriors. Anton also led the team rebounding with 6 boards.

Overall, Matt Welker leads the conference in steals with 3.7 SPG and is second in the conference in scoring with 19.4 PPG and assists with 4.7 APG.  Anton Webb is 4th in the conference in rebounds with 8.7 RPG and blocks with 1.1 BPG.  JT Thornhill leads the conference in blocks with 1.8 BPG.  Please say special prayers for JT Thornhill as he rehabs from a dislocated knee suffered during the win over Dixie on 12/16.

Warrior fans  — don’t miss this Friday’s game at Middletown Christian as Matt Welker (averaging 19.4 points per game) only needs 12 points to hit 1000 points for his career.

  • @ Middletown Christian Friday 1/5, 7pm (JV – 5:30pm)
  • vs. Carroll Saturday 1/6, 7:30pm @ Miamisburg Middle School – J-Term Theme night, (JVB – 4:30, JV – 6:00pm)
