70-Day Dash is over 100k and we are having another casual week

As a school system we have met our next incentive by raising over $100,000. Take a second to think about that. $100,000 and we are still going strong!! God is faithful!!

The incentive for raising this much money was supposed to be a lunch from Raising Canes. There have been petitions, voting, and lobbying to keep the money in the Warrior Center fund and to instead have another casual week. Our students and teachers requests has been approved. We will not be having a Raising Canes lunch and instead we will be having a casual week the week after Thanksgiving Break.

The momentum is as strong as ever and the school is excited for these efforts to push us over the top for Dayton Christian’s Warrior Center! If you have not gotten involved yet, please prayerfully consider doing so.

Parent Summit Part 2: Talking to your children about sex.

Dear Parents,

Have you struggled to determine the right timing, words, and approach to educate your children about sex?  Do you feel as though you can present the biblical view of sex in a way that positively impacts your child’s spiritual walk?  How do you educate them about the realities of the world so that they can make wise choices?

Come join together with other parents tonight,  Monday, November 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the A Building Auditorium as we discuss this important topic. This is Part 2 of a series for parents on the tough topics of the day, “Sex, Drugs, and Social Media”.   Dr. Peter Reynolds, family medicine, will present the topic from a Christian physician, teacher, and parent perspective. There will be several books given away on the topic of sharing with your child about sex.   Please see the dates below for future events.

Preparing for CCP Season 2018-2019

The school’s College Credit Plus (CCP) information session is set for January 22, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium. This is a mandatory meeting for participation in College Credit Plus and Dual Enrollment at Dayton Christian for the 2018-2019 school year.  There will be one make up session during lunch on January 23, 2018 in the Warrior Dining Room. If you are not able to attend one of these session you will need to make arrangements to attend the CCP meeting at the college of your choice in order to participate in  CCP/DE credit. This is mandatory for all students, regardless of previous year’s participation in CCP.

There are some significant changes to the program for next year. The most important of which being that you must qualify for college readiness by meeting the benchmarks on one of the Uniform Statewide Standards assessments. Most college utilize the ACT or SAT but some may use an alternative test. For this purpose, we highly encourage you to take the ACT or SAT no later than February 2018 to have scores in hand for evaluation for participation.

Qualifying scores are listed below for these two tests.

Below is more information on qualifications for CCP.

1. Students must be remediation-free in accordance to one of the assessments in the Uniform Statewide Standards for Remediation-Free Status document.

2. If a student scores within one standard error of measurement (SEM) below the remediation-free threshold and the student has a 3.0 GPA, the student is eligible to participate

3. If a student scores within one SEM below the remediation-free threshold and the student receives a recommendation from a school counselor, principal or career-technical program advisor, the student is eligible to participate

Do you have questions? Please see Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Smith, or Mrs. Hendricks in guidance.
