The Dayton Christian Men’s Soccer team rose to #4 in the state, after the OHSAA Division 3 week two poll was released on Monday. On Monday, the Warriors traveled north to face off with the current Miami Valley #1 ranked Bethel Bees. Bethel entered the match unbeaten in their first six games, having scored 28 goals and only given up 2. After a scoreless first half, the Warriors broke through 5 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick by Noah Alexander, his 3rd goal on the season. After taking control of the game in the second half, Josh Erlandson found the back of the net on a beautiful pass from Sam Reid with 25 minutes remaining. Erlandson notched his 3rd goal of the season, and scoring leader, Sam Reid, recorded his 6th assist. Finally, with 14 minutes left in the match, Mikey Smith beat his defender 1-on-1 and scored the Warriors 3rd goal of the contest.
The #4 ranked Warriors carry a 5-1 record into Thursday night’s conference game against Emmanuel Christian Academy. The game will be played at 7:00 pm at Ron Pinsenschaum Memorial Stadium.
The Warriors host #1 ranked Summit Country Day School on Saturday, September 16th at 7:00 pm. The Silver Knights have been the class of Ohio winning the 2015 and 2016 state championships. The Warriors fell to the Silver Knights 2-0 last September in Cincinnati. This will be a huge game and highly attended. Be sure to come out to Ron P.
