The remnants of Hurricane Harvey didn’t deter our Warrior runners on Saturday as they raced in the Miamisburg Invitational. Five of our twelve runners set new personal records: Hannah Withers, Nathaniel Geiss, Nate Childs, Isabelle Blatz, and Mitchell DeBusk. The first two DC boys across the line — Nathaniel Geiss (19:39) and Nate Childs (19:52) – are the first to break the twenty minute barrier this season, but senior Ben Geiss at 20:26 is right at their heels. For the girls, Brooke Tesmer ran a 24.35, and Hannah Withers was just a few paces behind her at 24:41.
Coaches Blatz and Withers have instituted a new incentive for the team. The male and female runners who cut the most seconds off their times receive a t-shirt from that week’s meet. This week, the most improved female runner was Isabelle Blatz who improved her time by 1:47. The most improved male runner was Andrew Bletzinger, running 1:13 faster than last week. Starting this week, the runners have to improve upon their personal records to earn the coveted meet t-shirt! We are proud of you, Warriors, for your good attitudes and hard work, and we are sure we will continue to see more and more PR’s set!
