Today we woke up at 6 am and headed over to Lighthouse Mission in Bell Port Long Island. We helped them with sorting of some of their storage trailers. Colin and I were in the back and it was pretty moldy but we still made it. After that we went to a parking lot in the city and started to distribute food for the homeless/low income folks. When we got there there were about 50 people already waiting for us. Colin gave a wonderful testimony about how God is still there for us in the bad times then we sang Soul On Fire, Great is the Lord and Hide Me. when the line started to move we all found a job to do and helped out in some way. I helped out by passing out soda to people. By the time it was over my hands were black with all the dirt and grime from the cans. At the end when we were closing down a lady showed up with her two kids (a girl and a boy) and was crushed because she was late. All she came for was a car seat for her son and there just happened to be one that we had not put away yet, she was so happy and I know it really blessed me to see that. After Lighthouse we went to the beach it was the perfect weather for just walking on the beach. In total we walked 5 miles. It was really nice to take a break and not really worry about what was next. Then we went back to the base and did random stuff for a few hours, Luke and I just slept. Then we had dinner, it was pork chops, roasted potatoes and green beans and it was probably the best food all week. Then we had a VERY emotional Paper plate awards ceremony (the paper plate award ceremony is something that we do on RJ tour when all the seniors or in our case the senior makes little personal “awards” and gives them to the other group members) Carolyn gave me the Impressions Award. After seeing the ceremony and all the tears were gone I realized how much I love this group. This is our last night at the YWAM base and I will never forget this week. I am very happy to see how God has worked in me and my friends this week and I am very blessed for having these people in my life. Thanks to all the parents for your support and prayers we could not have done this without your help. This really has been one of the best weeks of my life–Jacob.
