LaSertoma Club of Dayton recognized DCHS senior Micah Withers last week with a Youth Service Award.
The award included certificates from Governor John Kasich, Congressman Mike Turner, Ohio Representative for District 42 Niraj J. Antani, Mayor Nan Whaley, the City of Centerville, and the Montgomery Board of Commissioners.
Withers was nominated for the award based on his superior number of service hours in a variety of different arenas. His projects include being part of the Dominican Republic missions trip last year, tutoring Hispanic students, and completing his Eagle Scout project – nineteen trees planted near the elementary playground – at Dayton Christian School.
Withers was an obvious choice for the award, according to DCHS Director of Guidance Katie Reynold.
“I received an application to nominate a high school senior who has demonstrated excellent community service,” said Reynolds. “I sent out a request to teachers for nominations and Micah’s name just kept coming up again and again.”
Withers was humbled by the award.
“I am grateful to LaSertoma Club,” said Withers. “I am proud that they honored me in this way.”
