You have probably heard that swimming is great exercise, but did you know these fun facts:
An hour of vigorous swimming will burn up to 650 calories. It burns off more calories than walking or biking.
Swimming strengthens the heart and lungs.
Swimming works out all of the body’s major muscles.
Swimming helps reduce stress.
Water’s buoyancy make swimming the ideal exercise for physical therapy and rehabilitation or for anyone seeking a low-impact exercise.
Swimming is a great cardiovascular exercise because you are moving against the water’s resistance, which is over ten times that of the air.
What better way to exercise your Warrior Spirit than by vigorously working out you lungs while you enthusiastically cheer on your Dayton Christian Warrior swim team at the Metro Buckeye Conference League Meet this Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Trotwood Madison High School 4440 North Union Road, Trotwood, Ohio 45426 at 6:30pm. Your Warrior swim team will be taking on our league rivals, matching stroke for stroke, to claim top honors. Competing for the title of League Champs will be your Dayton Christian Warriors, Miami Valley Rams, Troy Christian Eagles, Xenia Christian Ambassadors, and the Yellow Springs Bulldogs. This will also serve as our Senior Night, so come out and show your support and appreciation for Grace Cox, Madison Gebhart, Emily Golich, Kayla Landis, and Morgan Pook.
Today, we spotlight Senior Madison Gebhart.
Madison is the daugher of Mark and Jodi Gebhart. This is Madison’s third year on the team and Madison has become our independent distant swimmer. Courage, strength, and stamina will be on display as Madison will swim the two most difficult events for us at the league meet; the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle. I challenge any DC Warrior athlete to attempt this difficult double and I promise you will come away with much respect for the distant swimmer. Madison also participates in volleyball, soccer, and last year, was the team manager for the State Champion Dayton Christian wrestling team. Madison’s favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. Madison’s favorite team memories are when Coach made cheesecake for the team and winning the conference championship last year. Madison is undecided on her choice of college, but hopes to major in pre-med and become a doctor.
We ask that you come out Saturday night at 6:30pm to support Madison, the seniors, and the rest of the DC swim team and support your team as we strive to represent well for our school, our families, and most importantly, our great God.
