Swim Team Advances

The second weekend of competition find the Warriors battling Division 1 schools and returning swimmers from last year’s state meet, as well as academic and fine arts commitments.Brandon Dellinger - Breastroke

The weekend started on Thursday as DC Diver, Kaley Pook competed against the best Division 1 divers in the area at the Centerville Dive Invitational.  When the water settled and the scores were tabulated, Kaley finished 2nd to last year’s returning state champ!  Awesome job Kaley.

Beavercreek, Centerville, Fairmont, Miamisburg, Springboro; these are just some of the 16 teams at the Fairmont Firebird Invitational Friday evening, awaiting your Dayton Christian Warrior Swim Team.  Not only did your Warriors have to face the biggest schools in the Dayton area, but we were missing several swimmers that were displaying their Fine Arts abilities at the Christimas Concert.  In true Warrior fashion, your swim team tightend their goggles and donned their caps and swam lights out!

Kayla Landis - Backstroke
Huge kuddos goes to your lady warriors, finishing 4th out of 16 teams. Highlights include Brooke Darkow once again, tearing it up in the outside lanes to finish 2nd in the 50 Butterfly and 1ST in the 50 Freestyle, Kayla Landis finishing in an outstanding 6th in the 50 Freestyle and 4th in the 50 Backstroke, and the 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Brooke Darkow, Morgan Pook, Grace Cox, and Kayla Landis – posting a time of 1:57.63 which is better than their season best time from last year’s sectionals meet.  The boys, although down in numbers, still persevered to post individual PRs in one or both of their individual events, finshing tied for 11th place.Brooke Darkow - Butterfly

Saturday found the Warriors competing in the biggest meet of the season thus far; 29 teams, over 400 swimmers at the Trotwood/Greenon Invitational in Trotwood.  This meet featured several swimmers that competed at last years State Meet. Once again, a letdown would be totally understandable after a terrific performance Friday evening, but that is not how your Warriors Roll these days.  The SAT/ACT testing and illness kept several of our swimmers out of the pool, but the Warriors buckled down and once again displayed true Warrior spirit.  When the day was done, the Girls scored points in almost every event, vaulting them to a 7th Place team finish while the boys bounced back to finish 19th out of 29 teams.  The girls were led by Brooke Darkow’s 3rd Place finish in both the 50 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly, while the boys were led by Freshman Andrew Simmons and his 11th Place finish in both the 100 IM and the 50 Freestyle.

Ben Geiss - BreastrokeThis week, the swim team will be in a spirited meet as we compete against Troy Christian and Xenia Christian at the Robinson YMCA, 3060 25A, Troy, Ohio 45373.  The meet begins at 7:00pm.  We invitie everyone to come and support the Purple and Gold in this friendly meet against our league rivals.
