Dayton Christian announces former Bengal, Ken Moyer, as new Head Football Coach

Former Cincinnati Bengal Ken Moyer has been named the new high school football coach at Dayton Christian. Moyer brings over 22 years of NFL experience as well as 8 years of coaching to his new position. DC is excited to welcome him with his impressive history and proven record as an exemplary football player, teacher, coach and Christian mentor.

Coach Moyer’s achievements and his commitment to helping develop not only exceptional football players but also student athletes of character and spiritual growth make Moyer a great fit for Dayton Christian. “I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Warriors’ future. My goal and passion is to help build total athletes—young men who enjoy great success on the sporting field and also great success on the playing field of life.”

Moyer will finish out this school year as a math teacher at Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati but will begin interacting with the DC football players immediately. President Bob Elliott is eager for Coach Moyer to begin implementing his clear vision of what it takes to produce a winning football team, helping take DC’s developing program to the next level and contributing overall to DC’s continued pursuit of growth and excellence.

Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis concurs: “It’s great to hear that Ken is getting this opportunity with a young and developing football program. Ken has just the mix of attributes and experience you would seek in a high school coach. He knows football from the inside out, and he knows how hard you have to work. He came to the NFL as an undrafted free agent and would end up becoming a Bengals starter. Secondly, he cares deeply about the personal development of young people and will be great working with the players both on and off the field. He’s a top-notch individual, gentle but strong, and he did a great job for us during his time as our team chaplain. I know I speak for everyone at the Bengals when I say we wish Ken the absolute very best.”

President Bob Elliott is thrilled to add Coach Ken Moyer to his fine faculty at DC as a high level math teacher as well, stating, “I am very excited to have Ken on our faculty. We strive to surround our students with quality teachers who speak God’s truth into our students’ lives and model Christ before them in a real and life-changing way every day. Coach Moyer has years of experience in the classroom and a reputation as an excellent math teacher.”

Coach Moyer has been married to his wife Carrie for almost 19 years. They and their four children Megan, David, Joshua, and Caroline currently reside in Mason, OH, and attend New Hope Church in that community.
